What is the big deal about Local?

Well for starters, local businesses really are the backbone of our communities and as such, the backbone of our economies. These are businesses that financially support our neighbors, friends and families through our very own purchases.

KYML has developed a way to identify these businesses for ourselves and everyone else. It took us some time to figure out a way to visualize the local value of a business and through research and exploration we developed the Lokal Standard and coined the idea of the Lokal Return of Investment, L(RoI).

Why the KYML Directory?

KYML is much more than a directory as we lift Local to new heights and bring Local back into the spotlight with a competitive edge in the digital and traditional marketing space. We are actively putting Local front and center.

Our sole/main function is to promote KYML and the subscribing businesses to shoppers as an easy-to-use tool letting shoppers join our virtual journey to uncover the “how to’s” of practically, affordably and conveniently shopping local.

What’s the Lokal Standard and why is it important?

Creating a new symbol in the “buy local” movement. Representing those businesses who support our local communities as a direct result of daily purchases and community investment. We call this the Local Return of Investment.

KYML is simplifying the conversation of those looking to support their local economies while fostering informed and conscientious consumerism. The estimated L(RoI) tells the shopper if the business they are purchasing from is supporting the same community, province or as broad as the same country. What does it mean to be a Local business? We were having a hard time finding this out and we figured other people were too.

I have multiple business locations.

As entrepreneurs we have strong drive. Expanding successful businesses into new area’s is important for growth. Each location will have a slightly different response to our Lokal Standard and will have a unique listing on our directory. To help you get the best reach we have created a super-reduced application fee that is 70% less than the primary listing so that all your locations can be easily found.

Why the subscription fee?

We understand that we are new and for the most part unproven. But we are looking at an incredible gap in the digital and traditional marketing space when it comes to promoting small to medium businesses.

KYML will be re-investing your subscription dollars into the marketing arena to put Local front and center because as we all know; advertising isn’t cheap and take a lot of resources.
